After my computer suddenly died, I had to get it repaired and then to restore from a Time Machine backup. Having done so, and even though MacOS asked for permission for the application to "access an external drive," Logic appears now to know nothing about the Sound Library, which is still located on an external drive.
It now wants to download everything. How can I tell Logic to find the files which already exist? My external hard drive is flashing furiously. How can I tell where Logic thinks that the Sound Library is presently located? Mike Robinson - "I wanna quit being a computer consultant and become a composer and arranger at age fifty- nevermind.
My new Logic Pro Book is out! And, once I tried downloading a single small element, it didn't offer "relocate sound library" as an option. I have a horrible feeling, though, that I am right now re-downloading files that are already there. It's as though Logic knows where to put the files but doesn't know that they are already there.
It is now determined to perform several gigabytes of downloads whether I want it to or not. All of it appears to be going somewhere on the external drive.
I tried renaming the "Logic" folder but nothing happened. Nor did a new "Logic" folder appear. Apparently, Logic thinks that it knows better than I do what it needs to do, and it's damned-well going to do it.
Yes, I did. Very strange: when I finally switched to the Admin account I find that the root-level library folder is an alias to the location on the external drive. When I did a download of a single package, I also noticed that the file-sizes and date stamps of the newly downloaded material were newer and larger than what was in the renamed and moved original repository.
So, right now, I just don't know: maybe the files do need to be updated. You can post now and register later. If you have an account, sign in now to post with your account. There's this hack you could try: "Point" to already downloaded Logic Sound Library on an external hard drive. Did you try all the steps described in that post? MikeRobinson Posted January 4. And you did move and rename the Library folder that is on the external hard disk? Why would Logic "gray out" the option to relocate the library?! Oh, wait: "hover over. I finally reinstalled the sound library, but I noticed that not every file in the destination location was replaced.
